Special Lecture on Korean Studies by the Korea Foundation (KF)

  • Special Lecture on Korean Studies by the Korea Foundation was held at Chulalongkorn University and  Burapha University.
  • We introduced Korea's educational system and gave a lecture that presented the concept and value of community well-being. This contributed to sharing the concept of community well - being and Korean community well - being to the international community.

International Journal of Community Wellbeing  was launched.

  • Youngwha Kee signed an agreement with an international large publisher (Springer) to launch a journal in community well-being.
  • This agreement is made as of this March 19, 2018(between Springer International Publishing AG, Gewerbestrasse 11, 6330 Cham, Switzerland and Youngwha Kee Soongsil University Dongjak-Gu 156743 Republic of South Korea).
  •  Youngwha Kee is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal, commencing with Volume 1, Issue 1, January 1, 2018.

 

  • This led to leading research in the field of community well-being, while securing the possibility of generating revenue by providing consistent and stable publications.

The 3th SSK Networking Symposium(2017-18) heled at LW Convention Center on February  23, 2018

  • February  23, 2018, the third Social Science Korea(SSK) Networking Symposium was held at the LW Convention Center in Seoul, Korea

  • On behalf of the CW Research Project, Nakhyeok Choi  gave a research talk about the paper titled "Comparison of Subjective Community Well-Being and Objective Community Well-Being"

  • Chanyoung Park "A Study on the Use of SNS as a Measure of Government Trust: Focusing on 25 Autonomous Regions in Seoul"

  • Yeonkyeong Lee "Implications for the Happiness of the Welfare State"

  • Through the Symposium, we analyzed the community well-being level of the community and explored the possibility of the policy use of the analysis result. We also introduced a research based on survey data from the community well-being center, and it was an opportunity to generate unique data and verify the value of the data.

Memorandum of understanding[MOU]

  • On November 6th, 2017, MOU was signed between Centre for Bhutan Studies & GNH and the Community Wellbeing Institute at the Royal University of Bhutan.

 

  • By signing an MOU with Centre for Bhutan Studies(CBS), it is expected to share and spread Korean-style community well-being with the international community.

  •  October  20, 2017 the Fourth Social Science Korea(SSK) Networking Symposium was held at the LW Convention Center in Seoul, Korea

  • On behalf of the CW Research Project, Nakhyeok Choi gave a research talk about the paper titled "A study on the difference between community well-being and individual unit well-being"

  • Eun Seon Lee "The Influence of Social Economy on Urban Community Renewal: Focusing on the village enterprises and social cooperatives in Seoul"

  • Yeonkyeong Lee "A Study on the Impact of Perceptions of Local Government on the Life Satisfaction of the Socially Underprivileged"

  • Joon Young Yi "What makes people want to live in the community?: Relationships between Sense of Community and Community Well-Being"

  • Through the Symposium, we explored the research of other research centers and examined the possibility of linking with community well - being and expanding the discussion. It is expected that networking among research groups will be activated through continuous exchange.

  • ISQOLS conferences provided a space for scholars to present their research findings on quality of life, well-being, and happiness, as well as to discuss their relevance for policy making. Scholars from all corners of the world, from many disciplines, with diff erent methodological and theoretical perspectives, and following different approaches meet with one common goal: generating research-based knowledge to contribute to the well-being in societies. So we discussed issues for better societies such as inequality and sustainability and quality of life.

  • On Octorber 25, 2014, the first Social Science Korea (SSK) Networking Symposium was held at the LW Convention center in Seoul, Korea.

  • They participated in the session as a discussant, and provided insightful comments on the paper each other.

 


CfP: Special Session on Community Well-being for the 2014 International Society of Quality of Life Studies (ISQOLS) Conference (Sept. 15-18 2014, Berlin, Germany), "Community Well-being: Theories and Practices"

  • Recent years have witnessed a dramatic increase in research on community well-being, which now seeks further theoretical conceptualization and practical applications.
  • The special session on community well-being for  the 2014 International Society of Quality of Life Studies Conference  (September 15-18 2014 in Berlin, Germany), "Community Well-being: Theories and Practices," examines various issues of well-being from the perspective of community well-being in conjunction with a range of disciplines, including education, public administration, urban planning, and social statistics.
  • Part I discusses the interplay of theories of happiness, well-being, and quality of life with theories of community well-being.
  • Part II sheds a light on practical guidance for putting theories into action for the betterment of community well-being.
  • This special session will also contribute to an expansion of the professional network among international scholars of well-being research across Asia, Europe, and North America.

The 3rd SSK Networking Symposium heled at LW Convention Center on April 25, 2014

  • On April 25, 2014,  the 3rd Social Science Korea (SSK) Networking Symposium was held at the LW Convention center in Seoul, Korea. On behalf of the CW Research Project, Chaebong Nam, Research Fellow of the project, gave a research talk about the papertitled"A Preliminary Analysis of the Community Well-being Indicators across Six Districts in Seoul" (co-authored with Youngwha Kee (Principal Investigator) and Yunji Kim). Chang-Bin Woo, Postdoctoral Research Fellow of the Asia Development Institute (ADI) at Seoul National University, participated in the session as a discussant, and provided insightful comments on the paper. 
  • Dr. Woo is slated to join our research project in July 2014.
